7474 HKS Elbow or Front Pipe

Okay, let's move on to my upcoming upgrades. This time around it would be the front pipe. A lot of people change the extractor and also the downpipe but overlook the elbow or the front pipe. For those who is not familiar with the exhaust set-up. The elbow is located between the extractor and downpipe. Unlike the normal aspirated exhaust system the extrator front pipe and downpipe are all together.

Most people would ask why change the bloody elbow? Why not just change the whole turbo altogether. You get more power. My answer to that would be. Why go for all out power whereby you haven't tried modding using the current turbo and see the potential of your current set-up. There I go again. Start talkingB/S again.

As you can see from the photos. It clearly shows that the HKS front pipe not only looks bigger. But a lot more prettier. With the HKS elbow there will definitely be an increase in horsepower anbd throttle response.

Currently, I'm the process of getting my hands on a second hand HKS Elbow. Well, it's not a brand new one. Got a second hand elbow from one of the MEOC (Mitsubishi EVolution Owner Club) member. If brand new it comes together with the down pipe and cost around RM:2600. Got mine at RM: 800. Bang for buck? Hmm.. Not really sure

Quite frankly, the shops in Sunway doesn't bring many after market product for CP9A. In another word the older generations Evo are kind of screwed.

As soon as I install the HKS Elbow + AVCR Boost Controller + FSC Fuel Regulator. Then I'll dyno and see how much power gain from it.

My previous dyno with 1.2 bar boost with GReddy Boost controller was 259.94 hp atw & 32.09Torque. Let's hope there'll be some gain. My target is at least 265hp atw
