7474 GReddy Airinx Air Intake
GReddy Airinx kit
The AY-SB and AY-MB Airinx air filters are made with a special dry element and then placed between our new dual chrome ABS spiral cages. Our special double-ply element uses 2 layers of 3 dimensional urethane foam (with different textures) to increase filtration and maximize intake airflow. The outer ply has a large opening while the inner rough layer is made up of a fine foam. The outer cage is a spiraled straight-fin design which helps promote air intake. The chrome finish can dress up any high performance engine compartment and is available in two compact sizes. Numerous funnel adapters in different sizes and styles and an extensive line of application specific bolt on kits.
The latest updates on TME7474..
As you all know , I already have a K&N 6" open pod airfilter fitted in my car. So far I'm satisfied with it's performance. A bit sluggish at low end but it felt lighter at top-end. It's give a very nice sound especially when the boost kicks in. The only drawback with this intake system is that the filter tends to get dirty fast. It starts to turn black. No effect on the performance but then again. It's a sight for sore eyes. You can clearly see in the photo below.
Before : It looks kind of dirty
After : With new air filter & painted manifold cover
Initially, I have plans to change the K&N to HKS Power flow. But since I already bought the K&N so it'll be a waste of money to change it anyway. One fine day, Zuhaili decided to tune his car. The only problem is that the GReddy Airinx airfilter that he installed in his car is not the correct spec. His tuner's advice was dump the airinx and get a bigger air-filter. He got an option, either to buy a new airfilter or do a swap with me.
Close-up of the air filter
The one shown in the first photo is with blue elements mine is yellow. But the overall shpae is the same anyway. My first impression of the airfilter is it's neat and it looks clean. It added a little colour to my dull engine bay. Performance wise, what's gone is the sluggish low-end power. The car felt more responsive but the top-end suffer. It felt like car ran out of breath after 5500RPM. Maybe, because of the size since it's only 3".
I also had to customize a new bracket to hold the airfilter in place. Did at at one of the popular exhaust shop in Sunway (JFA Motorsport). Which cost me RM:15.00. Overall comments, I'm satisfied with the performance and the looks of the airfilter.
GReddy Airinx = RM: 0.00 (Swapped with Zuhaili)
Bracket = RM: 15.00 (JFA Motorsport)
With the new look the engine bay looks more lively compare with the looks with the old filter.Which kind of dull.
