Pilot first GRA event ~ 09/08/07 (Part 3)

For those who don't about this event, it was quite popular in Singapore when it first started. I must say this will be the next best thing after drift. In fact I would prefer this event than drift. Since I am a huge WRC fan, this event reminds me of the super special stage minus the WRC cars. As you can see from the pictures taken there were a mixed of cars, from Kancil turbo right up to the Evos. Since this is a very technical course with so many small turns. High horsepower isn't such a big factor. It's more a test of skills, good set-up and a well balance car.

Our government should encourange this sort of events. Not only this event is cheaper than all the other events. It's also helps our dying Motor Sports scene in Malaysia.

Pilot first GRA event ~ 09/08/07 (Part 2)

Here some more shots taken during the event. It was a very hot day until about 3.00pm it starts to cool down a bit thanks to the cloud hovering over the track. The contestant were given 5 runs and they will take the best of 3. So each runs the contestant will have to give everything they got to achieve the best time.

Pilot first GRA event ~ 09/08/07 (Part 1)

Today, I got to see one of the MEOC member whom is also one of my friend in action. His name is Thomas aka Pilot. Yeah, he is a real pilot and his weapon of choice for today's battle was none other than his monster Mitsubishi Evolution 6.

I had he opportunity to drive his car two nights back. I must say the car has some power under the hood and plenty of potential which has yet to be tab. But it could use a bit more response which is much needed in GRA events. The day didn't go quite smoothly for Pilot. Like all motor sports event, there's always that gremlins that decided to pop up in the worst possible time. In Pilot's case, he had miss firing problems and a new course for him. Despite having all those problems. He had quite well and able to give the other driver a stiff competition. He deserve a pat on his shoulder for the effort he put in in this competition.

I've posted about this car quite a while back. It belongs to one of my best friend Mr. Ijud. A happy go lucky, low profile, very down to earth and most importantly he is one of the UNREST. I only got one word for Ijud's ride "SICK".

Sick doesn't mean bad , it's simply way too cool. Especially after the transformation, with the Evo 9 bumper, Evo 8 MR spoiler in place and with the Enkei RPF1 rims. It gives the car a totally different outlook. There's this saying less is more. Sometimes stock looks is the way to go as it keeps the essence of the original car.

I guess that's exactly what Ijud did. A simple mod and nice choice of colour. Colour choice is quite important cause if you mess up this part the car would go from nice to butt ugly. At least Ijud made the right choice when it comes to choosing the perfect colour, hence HULK was born.

Don't think for one minute that Ijud would stop there. There plenty of mods coming your way. It's just a matter time. Guess that's why we call ourselves UNREST!!

Hazry's Battery Relocation Kit

Haze and I had always talk about the SARD battery relocation kit but never actually go to the extend of buying them. For your information the SARD battery relocation kit would set you back like RM:1000++. For poor people like me that's a very huge amount to fork up.

To cut the story short, since we know Suhaimi could actually fabricate something like a battery box. So decided to approach him with the ides. Haze took the initiative to actually drew a mock-up battery box. Suhaimi and me both were so impressed with the details of the drawing. Not to mentioned a very well though drawing.

It shows that he had really put his thought into this project. From the picture you can see how the battery relocation kid looks like.

How it started. Look like just an ordinary metal box

Kudos to Haze for a job well done. From IDEA to PAPER and to the Finish product. Now that is something for us to be proud of.

Ijud's Effect Yellow Evo 7 aka HULK

I guess everyone in TEAMRICE is doing some sort of modding or upgrading or making the car looks better than it was before. In another word stock cars aren't for TEAMRICE. When we said stock is 100% factory issued.

Well, Ijuds car had it fair share of modding and upgrading. He actually got more stuff than my 7474 and he had done it in such a short time. Let's take a look at his list. These are just to one I can recall on top of my head.

1). Blitz air-filter.
2). Ralliart oil cap.
3). Ralliart radiator cap.
4). HKS silicon hoses.
5). Billion radiator hoses.
6). Pivot raisin.
7). Cusco oil catch tank.
8). RSR full exhaust system with CF muffler.
9). Blitz Boost controller.
10). Complete sound system.
11). Sparco NTR rims.

Okay, I am sure I left out one or two more stuff that he may have added without my knowledge. Anyway, the latest transformation would be the colour. I must say the Evo 7 stock colour doesn beginning to bore me. I guess Ijud is feeling the same way too. Then comes the change of colour time. He sure took him deciding on which colour to choose. He took so much tim until he couldn't decided what colour to choose. I just he must have shattered dreams just looking at all the colour at CYT paint shop walls.

Well, he's been asking all of our opinion. One fine day, I went to CYT with him and discussed with Cheah. The shop owner. After brainstorming for like almost 2 hours. We finally came to a decision, it'll be a pearl yeallow effect paint. This is the paint colour scheme used by the Evo 7 in "Too Fast, Too Furious" movie. I don't know what others think of this colour. I just got one thing to say about it. COOL!! I wish I had this colour on my Tommi.

Okay, let's take a look at Ijud's car before the colour change. Since I don't have Ijud's car picture in it's stock form. So I got this one of the net but this is how a Stock Evo 7 looks like.

Silver Stock Evo 7

After the colour change. This picture was taken during at the final stage of the paint job itself. The are buffing the car and doing some touch up on the paint at the engine bay area.

Now, the car is finally on the road. Unfortunately, I don't have the complete car. When I took the picture the only thing that they haven't installed was the rear bumper.

What's gone is the hidious Evo 7 wing , replaced with an Evo 8 wing

This is the shop that responsible for such a good paint job and neat worksmanship.

Will keep you posted on the Hulk progress. What's coming would be Evo 9 bumper hopefully Varis lip and Ganador side mirror. I guess we just have to wait and see.
